The Báb asked Muhammad Sháh for an audience and was sent instead to the mountain fortress of Máh-Kú. From His imprisonment He wrote to the King, calling him to account and naming Himself the rightful Sovereign of all men.
In a State of Utmost Joy
In 1868 soldiers surrounded Bahá'u'lláh's house in Adrianople. On the road to Gallipoli He began the Súriy-i-Ra'ís, addressed to the Ottoman Prime Minister, writing that though armed troops surrounded Him He remained in a state of utmost joy.

In 1930 Queen Marie of Rumania sailed for Haifa, and the Greatest Holy Leaf waited hour after hour in the Master's house to receive her. The Queen was met at the boat and taken out of Palestine.
