The Night Mullá Ḥusayn Found the Báb

A retelling for children, based on The Chosen Highway by Lady Blomfield (George Ronald), with details from The Dawn-Breakers. The words in quotation marks are as The Chosen Highway records them.
Mullá Ḥusayn was a student of a wise teacher named Siyyid Káẓim. Before he died, Siyyid Káẓim told his students to pray and fast, and then to travel far and wide to search for the Promised One whose coming the holy books had foretold.
Mullá Ḥusayn's search brought him to the city of Shíráz. One day in May 1844, as he was walking outside the city gate, a Youth wearing a green turban came towards him, greeted him with a loving smile and invited him to His home. Mullá Ḥusayn went with Him.
In the house, Mullá Ḥusayn explained that he was looking for his master. He carried a written list of the signs by which he would know the Promised One. His host listened carefully as he described them. Then He took the green turban from His head and said:
Look well at me, do I not show these signs?
Next He took up His pen and wrote an explanation of the hidden meaning of the story of Joseph from the Qur'án. Years before, Siyyid Káẓim had told Mullá Ḥusayn that the One who came after him would write this without being asked. As he read, Lady Blomfield writes, "his eyes were opened." He wanted to rush out and tell the whole world, but his host told him to be patient and wait until others had found Him too.
The host was the Báb, and Mullá Ḥusayn was the very first person to believe in Him.
