In the summer of 1912 'Abdu'l-Bahá was staying in New York. Many people came to see Him there.

In the city lived a lady, the mother of Mrs Zieglar. She wanted very much to meet 'Abdu'l-Bahá. But she had an ailment in her foot and could not walk, so she could not go to see Him.

Someone told 'Abdu'l-Bahá about her wish. He decided at once to go and see her.

One morning 'Abdu'l-Bahá came back to New York from a visit out of the city. He went straight to Mrs Zieglar's home to see her mother.

Mírzá Maḥmúd, who travelled with 'Abdu'l-Bahá, wrote in his diary that she was very pleased and happy. She felt as if she had been born anew.
