A retelling for children, based on Bahá'í Chronicles, which reproduces 'Abdu'l-Bahá's account in Memorials of the Faithful.
Ḥájí ‘Abdu’lláh came from Najaf-Ábád in Persia. After he became a believer, he left his homeland and hurried to the Holy Land. There he found peace of heart in the care of Bahá'u'lláh.
'Abdu'l-Bahá described him as confident, steadfast and firm, a man of excellent character. He spent his days in friendly company with the other believers.
For a while he went to Ghawr, near Tiberias, and became a farmer. He tilled the soil there, and he also spent much of his time in prayer and communion with God.
Later he came back from Ghawr and settled at Junayna, near Bahá'u'lláh, and he often came into His presence. Sometimes he wept, and at other times he rejoiced, glad that he had reached his greatest wish.
'Abdu'l-Bahá wrote that he was detached from everything but God and happy in God's grace. He would stay awake most of the night in prayer.
When his time came, Ḥájí ‘Abdu’lláh passed away under the care of Bahá'u'lláh.
