*A retelling for children, based on the story of Áqá Muḥammad-Ibráhím Amír in **Bahá'í Chronicles**, which reproduces 'Abdu'l-Bahá's **Memorials of the Faithful**.*
1 / 7
Muḥammad-Ibráhím, called the Amír, came from the town of Nayríz in Persia. He gave his heart to the Faith when he was still in the flower of his youth. 'Abdu'l-Bahá wrote of him, "He was a blessed person."

In those days the believers of Nayríz suffered greatly. After the troubles there, the Amír's persecutors caught him. Three officers pinned his arms and tied his hands behind his back. But the Amír was strong. He burst his bonds, snatched a dagger from one officer's belt, got free, and escaped to Iraq.

In Iraq he worked at writing out copies of the sacred verses. Later he was given the honour of serving at the Holy Threshold, in the household of Bahá'u'lláh. He stayed at his post day and night.

When Bahá'u'lláh was exiled from Baghdad to Constantinople, then to Adrianople, and then to the prison city of 'Akká, the Amír went too, and he was always at hand to serve. He married Ḥabíbih, who also served at the Holy Threshold. Their daughter, Badí'ih, later married Ḥusayn-Áqá Qahvih-chí.

The Amír served faithfully all his life. His health slowly declined after the passing of Bahá'u'lláh, and at last he died. His resting place is in 'Akká.
